Justyna Giermola brings a traditional European flavor to opera with a layered, luxuriant voice, and striking beauty. The critics called her a soprano with a rich, velvety timbre, during her performance with the Glens Falls Symphony. Her voice was described as “sparkling” and “pristine” as the featured soloist in Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen. “She displays all the qualities for a young soprano on her way to a wonderful career in opera.”

As a young artist Justyna joined the Aspen Opera Theater in 2004, International Institute of Vocal Arts in 2005, and the New Jersey State Opera West Essex Guild where she performed the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in 2010 and in the title role as Tosca for Playhouse 22 in 2010, a reprise of her 2009 Tosca performance for the New Jersey Opera Guild. Additional previous appearances include excerpts as Mimi in La Boheme, Nedda in Pagliacci, and Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana in 2010. She performed as La Suora Infermiera in Suor Angelica in 2012.

On the international stage Ms. Giermola made her European debut at the Polish National Opera House (Teatre Wielki) in Warsaw, Poland where she was featured in a critically acclaimed concert promoting the works of the national composer Stanislaw Moniuszko. Ms. Giermola is also a featured soloist in the “Palac Radziejowice” yearly summer concert series in Warsaw, Poland held every August.

Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Giermola has performed as the featured soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and Missa Brevis, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Handel’s Messiah. Some of her favorite performances have included Schumann’s Frauenliebe und leben, Rossini’s La regata veneziana and Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder.

Justyna recently returned from Zaragoza, Spain where she participated in 2012 at the Montserrat Caballe International Singing Competition and was chosen among the top 30 semi-finalists out of over 300 participants.

In 2013 Ms. Giermola added the roles of Auretta in Mozart’s L’oca del Cairo for Garden State Opera, Violetta in La Traviata for Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, and the Mother in Hansel and Gretel at the Carl Pfeifer Performing Arts Center. She was also a featured soloist in the world premier of Symphony #1 by Dr. Robert Butts with the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey.

Upcoming in 2014 she will sing the roles of Micaela in Carmen and Nedda in Pagliacci with Eastern Opera Company. Ms.Giermola will also add the role of Musetta in La Boheme when she makes her company debut with New Jersey Verismo Opera. She also sang the Soprano Solo in Brahm’s German Requiem with Masterwork Chorus during their Summer Sing.

A US Citizen, Justyna resides in Fort Lee, New Jersey where she continues to work with her voice teacher Josephine Mongiardo and her coach David Maiullo. Recent additions to her vocal advisors are noted voice coaches William Vendice, Kathy Olsen and Metropolitan Opera Tenor Eduardo Valdes.
